Suzi, GetYourGuide
"This was a fantastic day from the time our guide picked us up at our hotel to returning us. Timo displayed a wealth of knowledge not just about the wildlife but was also happy to answer general questions about Finland. At the park Timo took time to explain each of the wildlife enclosures giving us interesting information about the animals. He ensured we didn't miss feeding times for the Polar Bear and Artic foxes. We had plenty of time to take in all the animals. it was a magical day. A fantastic bonus is the pictures that he took of the animals and sent to us in a link after the trip."
Janine, GYG
"We had a great day with Timo . He was on time , pleasant, informative and flexible. I would highly recommend this tour . It’s very cold there and we wished the zoo had some more shelters scattered throughout to warm up !"

A native Laplander with deep roots in Arctic wildlife storytelling
I’m Timo, your local guide here in Lapland — born in Posio, raised in the Arctic, and working in tourism for more than 13 years, now living in Rovaniemi.
My relationship with Ranua Wildlife Park goes far beyond regular visits. Throughout my career, I’ve also produced newsletters, videos and wildlife marketing content for the park, giving me a unique, behind-the-scenes understanding of the animals, their stories and the important conservation work done here.
Because of this background, I know Ranua not just as a guide, but as someone who has spent years learning how to present the park’s wildlife in the most engaging, educational and meaningful way.
On our trip, I’ll share real local stories, wildlife knowledge passed through generations, and insights that bring the park to life for families, couples and groups alike. My goal is simple:
to make your day in Ranua the most enjoyable, safe and memorable wildlife experience of your Lapland trip.
Experience the northernmost zoo in the world, home to more than 50 Arctic species living in spacious, natural habitats. Ranua Wildlife Park is the best place in Lapland to see polar bears, wolves, lynx, owls and many other animals in an environment that mirrors their true Arctic life.
Lapland’s elusive wild cat, rarely seen in nature, moves with quiet grace and sharp instinct. At Ranua, you can observe this mysterious predator up close — a rare and unforgettable experience for both adults and children.
Powerful, intelligent and deeply symbolic in Arctic culture, wolves are among the most fascinating animals in the park. Your guide will share stories and insights about their behavior.
From the snowy owl to other northern species, these majestic birds showcase the magic of Finland’s wildlife. Their silent flight and expressive eyes make them one of the most captivating animals to encounter during your visit.
You can see these animals
and many more Arctic species
— on our guided trip from Rovaniemi to Ranua.
